    Intro
The most recent update of the full-carbon boot from Scarpa, which hasn't changed since last season, saw the BOA lace system moved out of sight so it is in direct contact with the liner. Its weight, around 100 grams heavier than the lightest boot in its class, is not considered a problem by elite racers: in fact, it's frequently spotted on or near the podium. The advantages? The anti-snow gaiter on the rear, standout walkability on dry surfaces, and Vibram sole.

    Walking
The toes and muscles of the foot are able to contract and aid the stride, despite the incredibly snug fit, which is more precise than the Alien 1.0. Thanks to the rockered sole, walkability on dry surfaces is excellent. The rocker is easily visible, even to distracted eyes, and makes the Alien faster in transition with better traction on steep, uneven terrain. The cuff rotation is 100% free and the heel is well supported.

    Lab
Entry is pretty easy with the liner in the boot, tipping the cuff all the way back. To configure shin support in the cuff there are three pairs of pads of different thicknesses, while the outer flap is one of the thinnest of all the racing models. The low liner is denser and thicker than other similar models and is available in two versions with different levels of stiffness. The cuff flap can sometimes pinch big calves.

    Skiing
You can feel the rockered shape of the base of the shell, which gives stability to the foot, as well as the heel sitting firmly in its pocket. The better BOA closure on the liner is another factor that both provides stability to the foot and tightens the liner, especially the tongue. The last turn of the dial on the instep holds the heel firmly in place, and let's not forget, the BOA can be quickly adjusted with a flick of the wrist, a definite advantage. The shell is stiff, and the cuff flap is lower than the Stratos VI, which makes it more forgiving in descent, with what feels like a deeper forward flex.
